Manchester City have re-established their six-point lead at the top of the table after a tense affair at Goodison Park. Both sides threatened in the early stages but clear cut chances were few and far between, with Kevin De Bruyne’s long range effort and Jonjoe Kenny’s shot into the side netting being as close as either came to scoring in the opening half an hour.
Richarlison then had the best chance of the game until that point, when the ball dropped to him after City had been unable to clear their lines, but the Toffees forward could only shoot straight at Ederson.

John Stones then drew another decent save from Pickford with an effort from range, before the Everton goalkeeper again came to the rescue to deny both De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.
The breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute, when a cross into the box deflected out of Michael Keane’s reach and into Foden’s path for a simple finish. Everton then appealed for a penalty when Rodri was accused of controlling the ball with his arm in the box but after a long VAR check, a penalty was not awarded.
