EURO 2024: Looking at FIFA rankings of UEFA Euro Cup teams since EURO 2021

Eight out of top ten teams in the latest FIFA ranking are playing in the Euro 2024

As Euro 2024 draws near, fans eagerly anticipate the performance of the top European teams, many of which have seen shifts in their FIFA rankings since Euro 2021. The tournament will showcase not only the powerhouse nations but also those teams that have shown significant improvement or faced challenges over the past few years. Here’s a detailed look at the current FIFA rankings of the participating teams compared to their standings in 2021.

How has the FIFA Rankings changed since EURO 2021

Hosts Germany, a traditional football powerhouse, has seen a slight drop, moving from 12th to 14th place. Meanwhile, France has improved its standing, now ranking 2nd from 3rd. England has maintained its position at 4th, while Italy has dropped slightly from 5th to 7th despite winning Euro 2020.

The Netherlands have made a remarkable climb from 16th to 6th, as Portugal remains steady, slipping slightly from 8th to 9th, continuing to be a formidable force in Europe. Belgium, once the top-ranked team, has fallen to 5th. Switzerland and Croatia have seen minor changes, now ranking 15th and 11th, respectively.

Denmark has dropped from 10th to 19th, while Sweden and Austria have also seen declines, now at 23rd and 27th, respectively. Poland and Ukraine have remained relatively stable. Scotland has made an impressive jump from 45th to 29th.

Turkey and Czechia have seen mixed fortunes, with Turkey dropping to 39th and Czechia moving slightly up to 38th. Hungary remains close to its previous position, now at 36th. Slovakia has faced a significant drop from 36th to 51st, while Romania has slipped from 42nd to 46th. On the other hand, Albania and Georgia have shown improvement, with Albania moving up to 61st and Georgia to 78th.
