After 4 weeks of exciting action, the Euro Cup 2024 has finally concluded. It is Spain who emerged victorious after beating England 2-1 at the finals in Berlin. Along with being unbeaten throughout the tournament, Spain has gone on to hog most the awards in the tournament.
24 teams battled with each other in the tournament and eventually on this fateful day, La Roja lifts the silverware. After 12 long years, Spain has finally achieved their glory as they go on to lift the Euro Cup title for the 4th time. After a cagey first half, Nico Williams opened the scoring early into the first.
On came Cole Palmer and he immediately restored parity for the Three Lions. Towards the dying minutes of the game, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winner goal.
Euro Cup 2024 Awards List –
Young Player of the tournament – Lamine Yamal
As if anybody had a chance. The youngster celebrated his 17th birthday yesterday and won the Euro Cup the next day. Since his breakthrough for Barcelona, Yamal’s name has been on the lips of every football fan. He has dazzled and shined brightly, stitching up 4 assists and a solitary goal in the tournament.
His solitary goal came as a lethal strike against France in the semi finals. And in the all-important finals, it was his assist that led to Nico Williams scoring the first goal of the game for his country.
Player of the tournament – Rodri
The Spanish midfielder was the complete Marshall and the General. From acting as a shield to breaking opponent lines with his accurate through balls, Rodri put out a great show throughout the tournament. The Manchester City had to subbed off half time in the final after some injury concerns. But that didn’t hamper him at all, as he gloriously won the Player of the tournament award.
UEFA Euro Golden Boot Winner
Not one, two or three, there are six different winners of the UEFA Euro 2024 Golden Boot. As many as 6 players have scored 3 goals apiece and they have been adjudged as the Golden Boot Winner. Leading the charts is England’s captain, Harry Kane. Spain’s attacking midfielder Dani Olmo is also on the list.
Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze and Cody Gakpo too stole the show with their goals. And lastly comes Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz and Germany’s Jamal Musiala who all have scored equal number of goals. As a result, all 6 players have jointly won the Golden Boot award for UEFA Euro 2024.
