Martial was out for most of the season due to injuries until he saw himself in the playing XI since last month. This season, he has only scored 5 goals in 19 Premier League appearances. Despite that, manager Erik Ten Hag still defended the player publically and claimed that the team plays better when Martial is in the squad. He said, “I think he played well, he returned to the bench, he’s OK. I think he just shot into the dressing room, I don’t know what you want to make from it.”

But the latest reports suggest that Ten Hag has agreed to send off Martial this summer with the board. The 27-year-old started against Bournemouth but was substituted in the 57th minute. He then went straight to the tunnel only to return after some time and watch the rest of the game. But, his reaction after being subbed off was not well taken by fans and by the Manchester United board.

Manchester United have put their faith in the French striker when he was injured and out of form for so long. But now, they might be looking for potential options after the incident and the recent form.

Martial joined Manchester United in 2015 for £ 36 million, which was then a record fee for a teenager. He stood up to the expectations after scoring against Liverpool in his debut after coming from the bench. But with time, he lost his form. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Martial was at his best in 2019-20, when he scored 23 goals in all competitions. After that, he has only managed to score 16 in the next three seasons, and 7 in this season. His contract with United expires in 2024, which he signed in 2019.

Manchester United sent Martial to Sevilla in 2022 in the hope that the striker will find his form. But that didn’t work and he only managed to score once in 12 appearances. The Club is now keen on signing Harry Kane to strengthen their squad.
