In the build-up to the match, much has been made of Gareth Southgate’s selection conundrum, and it is Bukayo Saka who has won the race to start on the right wing, with Marcus Rashford missing out. Raheem Sterling also missed the game due to an unspecified emergency. The Three Lions are largely unchanged, with Kyle Walker remaining at right-back and Jordan Henderson preserving his spot in midfield. Nampalys Mendy replaces Gueye in the Senegal midfield, while Krepin Diatta, who started the first game after an injury layoff, replaces Pape Gueye.

Despite many early attempts, England opened the scoring late in the first half. A 38-minute by Jordan Henderson gave them a lead. Harry Kane retrieved Bellingham from the depths. Bellingham baited several defenders before cutting the ball back into the penalty area, where Henderson, who was accompanied by his midfield partner on the right, placed it below Senegal custodian Edouard Mendy and into the net. Moments later Harry Kane missed his chance of an extension after he shot a Bukayo Saka pass wide.

With the final kick of the first half, Kane doubled the lead. Bellingham seizes a lost ball in their own half, sparking an England counterattack. He passed to Foden on the left, who fed the unmarked Harry Kane on the right just outside the Senegal box. The England captain opened his account in Qatar by blasting the ball past keeper Mendy and into the net. The goal came practically with the last kick of the first half.
Coming from the break England maintained their stance in the game. Bukayo Saka scored his third goal of the tournament to put England up 3-0. Saka spotted keeper Mendy rushing out towards the six-yard box line after Phil Foden delivered a superb cross into the penalty area from the left. Saka coolly dinked the ball over the goalie from 10 yards out.
Big.
