Football fans in India couldn’t ask for more, as the nation is set to witness one of the greatest rivalries in world football. That’s right—on April 6, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, legends of Real Madrid and Barcelona will face off once again, in what is popularly known as El Clasico whenever these teams meet in La Liga or any European competition.
Some of the biggest names in the game, including Luis Figo, Rivaldo, and Fernando Morientes, will lace up their boots once again for this highly anticipated showdown.
John Zaidi, CEO & Co-Founder of The Sports Front, recently highlighted the significance of this event, stating, “Indian football fans have shown unwavering passion for the game. Now, for the first time, they will witness history unfold in their own backyard. This event is about more than football—it’s about placing India at the forefront of global sports entertainment.”
How to buy tickets for Barcelona vs Real Madrid match
Although tickets will be released soon, fans can now register exclusively on the District app by Zomato for early access before they officially go on sale. Also, since HSBC is the official banking partner, the HSBC Pre-Sale is set to begin on March 2, 2025, offering HSBC customers an exclusive opportunity to secure their seats before ticket sales open to the general public.
How El Clasico became football’s biggest rivalry
This is surely due to the intense matches between both teams, but if we go back in history, their first encounter was in 1902 during the Copa de la Coronación, an unofficial competition. However, it was during the 1930s that their rivalry intensified due to political factors, taking their competition to another level. Since then, this encounter has remained one of the most popular football matches in the world. Also, it is important to note that for Barcelona Legends, this will be their second trip to India. Their first visit was in 2018 when they played against Mohun Bagan Legends in Kolkata, winning 6-0 on September 29, 2018.
