Dani Alves, a former fullback for both Brazil and Barcelona, received an 18-year prison term after being convicted guilty of rape. A lady who claimed to have been the victim of Alves’ conduct accused him of sexually assaulting her in a nightclub in Barcelona. On Friday, a court in Spain decided that Alves should remain in custody after hearing the testimony of the woman and another witness.

On December 30, 2022, the veteran from Brazil was accused of sexual assault. The Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts police station is where Alves reportedly went to make a statement on the accusations made against him. Both witnesses have verified before the judge the testimonies they have made to the Mossos d’Esquadra and have stated that the footballer also approached them with evident sexual purpose before bringing the complainant to the bathroom where the alleged sexual assault took place.

The Brazilian footballer approached her and specifically made them feel “uncomfortable,” the buddies allegedly told the magistrate. The examining magistrate reminded the victim throughout her testimony that she had the choice to report the assault, but the witness chose not to do so in order to preserve the importance of the terrible sexual assault suffered by her companion.

On the contrary, Dani Alves’ attorney Cristobal Martell is adamant that footage from cameras in the VIP area of the Sutton nightclub at the time shows how the footballer enters, and the victim arrives two minutes later without Alves reaching out to her. These white sneakers might now either prove or disprove the former Barcelona player’s guilt. Dani Alves would be situated in a “blind zone” behind the door, the victim claimed. He is therefore invisible in the pictures.

But sources for the prosecution have cautioned, according to “La Vanguardia,” that there are pictures of white trainers that actually belong to the accused and that, although not being visible since he is in the “blind area,” he is signalling to the victim.

The defence of the Brazilian athlete, on the other hand, contends that the white sneakers—which could hold the key—belong to a different patron who was in the VIP area of the Sutton nightclub’s toilet and are visible in the mirror, not to Dani Alves.
