At Selhurst Park, the Gunners made it two wins in a row to kick off the new Premier League season. Despite referee David Coote’s decision to red card Tomiyasu for two fast bookable infractions (67), Odegaard’s 53rd-minute penalty proved decisive.

On Monday, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard’s penalty clinched a 1-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. It came after Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off for two yellow cards, leaving the visitors with ten men.

In the first half, Arsenal dominated possession. It took them till the 53rd minute to grab the lead. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone tripped Eddie Nketiah in the box. Martin Odegaard converted the subsequent penalty kick.

Arsenal appeared to be on course for a comfortable victory, but Palace were given a reprieve. Tomiyasu was sent off after two bookings in eight second-half minutes. Putting Mikel Arteta’s team on the back foot for the rest of the game.
