Croatia vs Brazil: Brazil and Croatia fans both shed tears, but for very different reasons as Croatia eliminated Brazil to advance to the semifinals. Neymar gave Brazil the lead in extra time with four minutes remaining, and he also equaled Pele’s record of 77 international goals in the process. For Brazil, Neymar was set to go fifth hence he never had a chance to score in penalty kicks. Neymar was understandably upset after the defeat. His teammates consoled him as he sobbed on the ground.
The 30-year-old’s World Cup in Qatar was full of ups and downs. He also sobbed when missing time due to an ankle injury sustained during the opening match against Serbia. Prior to bowing out on Friday, he did score two goals for Brazil. Neymar hasn’t won a World Cup for his nation despite having an enormous amount of overall success at the competition throughout the years.
Croatia is now slated to go up against Argentina in the semifinals.
