Cristiano Ronaldo’s Bodyguards worked Illegally? Twin Bodyguards currently working for Cristiano Ronaldo under investigation on suspicion of working illegally: Cristiano Ronaldo’s bodyguards are under investigation on suspicion of working illegally in Portugal, according to local reports emerging from Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon.
Former elite soldiers Sergio and Jorge Ramalheiro, the two twins have been a constant presence alongside the Great Number Seven since his epic return to Manchester but are at the center of a probe in Portugal.
Last week it was revealed that the Man United striker’s minders served with the Portuguese army in Afghanistan with an elite special forces’ unit.
They were part of a PSP close protection unit tasked with guarding politicians and judges before becoming responsible for the safety of Ronaldo, 36, his four children and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.
Portuguese celeb magazine Flash said the twins, part of a set of triplets, had been hired by Cristiano after they asked to go on unpaid leave from the PSP police to pursue other interests.
But the pair are under investigation over allegations they provided unauthorized close protection in their native country, according to Portuguese paper Observador.
They reportedly face disciplinary proceedings when they return to the PSP. English outlet “The Mirror,” reported: An insider of the police department said people working in private security without police licensing in Portugal could be jailed for between one to five years.
Anyone who knowingly hires unlicensed bodyguards can also leave themselves open to prosecution in Portugal.
There is no suggestion that Ronaldo is suspected of any wrongdoing. His representatives said.
