Following his “disgraceful behaviour” leading to a red card in Al-Nassr’s Saudi Super Cup semi-final clash with Al-Hilal, Cristiano Ronaldo faced a ban and fine. The Portuguese football icon lost his composure, elbowing Ali Al-Bulaihi and subsequently receiving a red card with four minutes remaining.
The match referee’s report highlighted Ronaldo’s use of “excessive force,” prompting his expulsion. Despite vehemently disputing the decision, Cristiano Ronaldo was eventually sent off and left the field in anger.
Cristiano Ronaldo to be banned for two matches
Reports from Al-Riyadiya indicate that Ronaldo will endure a two-match suspension and a fine of 20,000 riyals for his actions. This incident follows his recent return from a ban imposed due to his crude response to taunts from rival supporters referencing Lionel Messi. Al-Nassr suffered a 2-1 defeat in the semi-final against Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo’s absence will be felt in the upcoming Saudi Pro League matches against Al Feiha and Al-Khaleej. However, he is expected to return for the semi-finals of the King Cup of Champions on May 1, providing another opportunity for his team to pursue major silverware in 2024.
