Ronaldo has 11 goals in 13 appearances, which on paper seems to be an impressive stat, however digging deep, the striker hasn’t been consistent enough. The 38-year-old has failed to score in eight of the 13 games including in the big games against rivals Al Ittihad and Al Hilal.

Moreover, his decision-making has been poor at times, and his regular outburst of frustration is only making matters worst. Ronaldo showed the same behaviour in his final few months at Manchester United where he scolded his teammates for poor decisions on the field, squandered opportunities, and defensive mistakes.

In a video that has gone viral, Ronaldo was seen grabbing his crotch after Al-Hilal fans made Messi chants in the stadium. The indecent gesture sparked anger among the Saudi people as they demanded Ronaldo’s deportation from the country.

However, club Al-Nassr on Thursday came forward to defend their captain and revealed that the Portuguese suffered a ‘sensitive’ injury in the groin area which led to Ronaldo’s action.

The club’s board provided this information to journalist Muhammed Al-Enezi, who released a statement on Wednesday.

“Ronaldo suffers from an injury. His challenge with Gustavo Cuellar, the Al-Hilal player, started with a blow in a very sensitive area. This is confirmed information. As for the fans’ explanations, they are free to think whatever they want.”

There is widespread criticism throughout the country with the hashtag, ‘Expelling the fan’s abuser’.

Following fans’ calling for the deportation of Ronaldo, the lawyer in question Nouf bin Ahmed stated via Fichajes,  ‘Even if the crowd provoked Ronaldo, he didn’t know how to react. Cristiano’s behavior is a crime. An indecent public act, which is one of the crimes that allows for arrest and deportation if committed by a foreigner. We will present a petition to the Public Ministry regarding the issue.’

Notably, Al-Nassr has seen a downward trend in their performance with three draws, and two losses with six wins, allowing rivals Al Ittihad to surge to the top.

The poor performance led to the sacking of manager Rudi Garcia who at first place wasn’t enthusiastic about Ronaldo joining the club.

‘First I wanted to bring Messi from Doha. I tried to bring Messi directly from Doha.’ he jokingly reacted when Al Nassr signed Ronaldo.
