Cristiano Ronaldo created yet another record on Saturday, becoming the top assist giver in Euros history (since 1968), as he set up Bruno Fernandes to score in Portugal’s 3-0 win over Turkey in UEFA Euro 2024. The Selecao, who were already up 2-0 at halftime thanks to a Bernardo Silva strike and an own goal by Samet Akaydin, extended their advantage to 3-0 when Ronaldo decided to pass to Bruno in the 56th minute despite having a fair chance to create yet another history.
This was his first assist in this edition of the competition, bringing his total to the joint-highest in its history, alongside Karel Poborský. With 14 goals, the 39-year-old is already the leading scorer in the Euros. Ronaldo earlier became the first player to compete in six European Championship competitions on Tuesday, leading Portugal to a 2-1 victory against the Czech Republic in their first encounter.
