Cristiano Ronaldo back in UCL? UEFA set to invite Al Nassr to participate in Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League? UEFA intends to allow Al Nassr to compete in the UCL beginning in the 2024-25 season.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr will be invited to compete in the UEFA Champions League in 2024-25. Since Portugal’s departure, the Saudi Pro League has received a lot of attention. Following Ronaldo’s achievements, Al Nassr has also been in the limelight.

Since its beginning three decades ago, the Champions League has featured only UEFA-affiliated clubs competing. However, given the club’s prominence in Europe, it is now planning to offer an invitation to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr for next year’s tournament.

Ronaldo, 38, continues to make headlines with a solid start to the season. In 17 appearances across tournaments, the Portugal captain has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists. This includes 13 goals and seven assists, putting Al-Alami four points behind league leaders Al-Hilal after 13 games.

UEFA currently intends to issue an offer to the Saudi Arabian club and Cristiano Ronaldo’s fame by inviting them to compete in the 2024-25 season. As reported by Sportskeeda, the Saudi Pro League outfit is set to be a part of the European piece.

“The European Union intends to extend an invitation to Al Nassr to participate in the 2024 UEFA Champions League, being one of the three most famous clubs in football and because Al Nassr has great and great popularity on the European continent.” was again quoted in Saudi Arabian journalist Alharbi.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Al-Nassr, has a perfect record in the UEFA Champions League. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has 140 goals and 48 assists in 183 appearances for three different teams across tournaments.

Ronaldo spent the majority of his goal contributions (105 goals, 31 assists) and appearances (101) at Real Madrid, where he won four titles. His other championship came with Manchester United in 2008, the same year he earned his first Ballon d’Or.

Ronaldo is the first player in competition history to win it five times. He is also the only player to score in the Champions League final for two different teams. Ronaldo scored 17 goals for Real Madrid in the 2013-14 season, the most by any player in competition history.

The Saudi Pro League has already ended for the international break, during which Ronaldo will represent Portugal against Liechtenstein and Iceland. Ronaldo’s return would try to maintain the momentum as they get closer to league toppers Al Hilal. Al Nassr’s winning run in all competitions now stands at seven games with a 3-1 victory over Al-Wehda in the Saudi Pro League.
