1. Vincent Aboubakar’s chip against Serbia
Vincent Aboubakar scored a fantastic goal against Serbia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Aboubakar managed to get behind Serbia’s defence in the 63rd minute. He faked past a sliding defender and then chipped the ball over Serbia’s Milinkovic-Savic to make the score 3-2 to Serbia. Aboubakar’s goal helped Cameroon cut their deficit into half. The game ended in a 3-3 draw between Cameroon and Serbia.
2. Richarlison’s goal against South Korea
Richarlison was a part of a fantastic team goal against South Korea in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 game. Richarlison started the move off with some juggling headers to draw in the opposition. The ball then fell to Marquinhos who passed it to Thiago Silva. Silva played the ball in between South Korea’s defence to send Richarlison through on goal. Richarlison slid the ball into the back of South Korea’s net to make the score 3-0 to Brazil.
3. Marcus Rashford’s Freekick against Wales
England played against Wales on 30th November 2022 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. England managed to win a freekick in the 50th minute of the game right outside the Wales penalty area. Marcus Rashford stepped up to take the freekick for England. A beautiful strike saw Rashford’s freekick beat Daniel Ward and settle into the top right corner of the goal. This opened the scoring for England, giving them a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute. A goal by Phil Foden and a second goal by Marcus Rashford saw England win the game 3-0.
4. Messi’s goal against Mexico
Argentina played Mexico in the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Argentina needed a win and were struggling to get a breakthrough till Lionel Messi stepped up for them. In the 64th minute of the game, a pass from Angel Di Maria saw the ball get to Lionel Messi in the central area. Lionel Messi decided to take a shot from the edge of the box and it worked. Lionel Messi’s shot beat Mexico’s keeper Guillermo Ochoa and nestled into the bottom corner, opening the scoring for Argentina and giving them a 1-0 lead. Argentina went on to win the game 2-0.
5. Paik Seung-Ho’s goal against Brazil
Paik Seung-Ho scored a phenomenal consolation goal against Brazil in the Round of 16 game of the FIFA World Cup. South Korea was 4-0 down and almost confirmed to be knocked out of the World Cup when Seung-Ho managed to score a stunner against Brazil. In the 76th minute, Brazil cleared a freekick but only as far as Paik Seung-Ho at the edge of Brazil’s penalty area. The South Korean controlled the ball with his left foot and then took a swing at it. His left footed half volley travelled past Brazil’s keeper and right into the top right corner of the net. Although this goal came too late to give South Korea any real hope, this goal will be remembered by South Koreans for years to come.
6. Richarlison’s Volley against Serbia
Richarlison scored 2 goals against Serbia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They met in the group stages of the tournament. Richarlison had already scored one goal already but his second goal was even better and will be remembered for a long time to come. In the 73rd minute, a cross from Vinicius Jr found Richarlison. Richarlison tried controlling the ball but his first touch was not the best. Instead of letting the chance go, Richarlison made the first touch work even better than normal. Richarlison attempted an acrobatic bicycle kick and it came off in spectacular fashion. His bicycle kick found the bottom corner and gave Brazil a 2-0 lead.
7. Neymar’s Goal against Croatia
Neymar’s goal for Brazil against Croatia was both wonderful and dramatic. The teams met in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Neither team managed to score in normal time and the game went into extra time. In the 105th+1 minute, just before the end of the first half of extra time, Neymar managed to give Brazil the lead. A wonderfully worked move between Neymar, Rodrygo, and Lucas Paqueta saw Neymar get in behind Croatia’s defence. Neymar expertly navigated the ball past Croatia’s keeper Livakovic and put the ball into the roof of Croatia’s net. This sent Brazilian fans across the globe into a frenzy as Brazil now led 1-0 in the Quarter-Finals. Brazil lost on penalties to Croatia in the end but this goal will be etched in the back of the head of all Brazilian fans forever.
8. Kylian Mbappe’s goal against Poland
Kylian Mbappe broke another record with his goal against Poland in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Kylian Mbappe became the first player ever to score 8 FIFA World Cup goals before turning 24. Mbappe dribbled past Kamil Glik and took a shot at goal. His shot was headed straight for the top right corner of the goal. While Szczesny managed to get a hand to it, the ball was struck with so much power that he could not keep it out. This goal by Kylian Mbappe gave France a 3-0 lead in the Round of 16 game against Poland. While Robert Lewandowski did manage to score later in the game, it was too little too late and France went on to win 3-1 against Poland and advanced to the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
9. Luis Chavez’s freekick against Saudi Arabia
Luis Chavez scored an absolute screamer of a freekick against Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia were in the same group as Mexico in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In the 52nd minute, Luis Chavez scored one of the best FIFA World Cup goals ever seen. The freekick won by Mexico was very far from goal and it was likely that the ball would be crossed into the box. However, Luis Chavez stepped up and decided to try and score. He struck the ball so cleanly that the keeper never even had the chance to save it. The strike floated directly into the top right corner of the goal, giving Mexico a 2-0 lead over Saudi Arabia.
10. Al-Dawsari’s second goal against Argentina
Saudi Arabia caused one of the biggest upsets seen in World Cup history. Saudi Arabia were placed in the same group as Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Argentina were the clear favourites and took an early 1-0 lead. Things, however, started to change in the second half. In the 48th minute Saudi Arabia made the score 1-1. Almost immediately after, Salem Al-Dawsari scored in the 53rd minute to give Saudi Arabia a 2-1 lead over Argentina.
The ball fell to Al-Dawsari in the 53rd minute. His first touch let him down and he almost lost the ball, but was able to recover. Al-Dawsari then managed to get through 3 Argentina players and get a shot off. His shot managed to find its way past Argentina’s keeper Emiliano Martinez and gave Saudi Arabia a 2-1 lead. Saudi Arabia went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to this wonder goal by Salem Al-Dawsari.
