On Sunday morning, Ciro Immobile was driving his two daughters in his SUV near Ponte Matteotti which is located about 5 minutes distance from Lazio Stadium Stadio Olimpico. As per Immobile and some videos that were posted online on the accident, a tram went through a red light and then hit his car. People gathered at the scene and emergency services were called as soon as possible.

As the ambulance arrived, Immobile and his daughters seemed to be mostly fine except that the striker had a bloody hand. He seemed to have fractured his shoulder. On the scene, he said to the concerned people, “The tram went through a red light. Luckily I’m fine, my arm just hurts a little.”However, pictures of his car emerging from the scene showed a horrific condition.

A spokesperson for Lazio informed the media later on that the star striker has suffered a compound fracture on his right XI rib and a distortion trauma on his spine. He will be kept under observation in Rome’s Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Hospital in Professor Francesco Franceschi’s led emergency medicine department.

One front side of his car seemed like it was smashed in, but the damage seemed to have only happened on the front of the car. This means people inside the car were safe from the collision. However, the tram derailed when the collision happened and the driver along with five other passengers was taken to the hospital later. One injured person had to be taken to the hospital as soon as the accident occurred and Immobile reportedly accompanied the injured person to the hospital while enquiring about the person’s injuries.

Immobile’s Lazio teammates and others at the club will wish for his speedy recovery as he has been an important part of the team. Lazio currently occupy the 2nd position in the Serie A table and they have an important match against Torino next weekend. Additionally, Immobile just came out of a six-game goal drought in their last match against Spezia as he scored a penalty.

Immobile is one of the leading goalscorers in the history of Serie A and he has played a pivotal part in Lazio acquiring the 2nd position in the league. Hence, it would’ve been great news for them as he ended his goal drought only yesterday. However, it will only be possible to know whether he will be fully available for them in their next fixture after proper further medical attention following this accident.
