Chelsea Winger ‘Uncertain’ about his future at Stamford Bridge

Christian Pulisic, who made only 8 starts in the 2022/23 season. is uncertain about future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic failed to live up to the potential what was expected from him, before joining The Blues in 2019. The USMNT star’s last 2 year has been a riddle due to injuries. And now that there is only 1 year left in his contract, he might be looking for new opportunities.

The 24-year-old winger is currently on international duty for the CONCACAF Nations League final. When asked about his future at Chelsea, Puisic replied, “This summer, we’re obviously going to have to see what happens — it’s obviously very early. As of right now, I’m a Chelsea player and I plan to go back, but a lot of things can happen, a lot of things can change.

“[My club future] is really in the back of my head — I’m not even thinking about, right now, where do I want to be next season,” he explained.

Pulisic made only 8 starts in the 2022/23 season. Moreover, he appeared in only 30 games in all competitions, scoring just 1 goal and 1 assist, which is his lowest till now. In his 4 years old Chelsea career, Pulisic has scored 26 goals in 145 games. Now that only one year is left in his contract, Chelsea might sell him this summer instead of allowing him to leave next year for free. The same can be seen in the case of Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.

However, the Blues also consider him giving a new contract considering multiple bids have been rejected in past years. Last summer, Manchester United were keen to sign the player on loan, but Chelsea opted not to do so.

This season, Juventus are the front runners to sign the USMNT star, but they are not the only ones in the race. Newcastle United, AC Milan, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid are also the other teams interested in signing the 24-year-old winger.

After spending around $600 million in the last two transfer windows, Chelsea are still in search of new players and a squad re-vamp. New manager Mauricio Pochettino has been asked to list his targeted players so that he can have a squad of full strength before going into the next season.
