Chelsea vs Dortmund: Massive BOOST for Blues ahead of Champions League Clash, James & Kante RETURN to Training – Check Out
Reece James missed Chelsea’s last match against Leeds United owing to a ligament issue. He was in doubt in that match but was ruled off at the last moment. On the other hand, N’Golo Kante has been out for six months after he suffered a hamstring injury back in August during their league match against Tottenham Hotspur.
While this is surely good news, it will still pose decisive problems for Graham Potter. Chelsea spent around £300 million during their January transfer window. After this, the total tally of Chelsea players became 31. The Chelsea boss has expressed that he has had training and team selection issues owing to this bloated squad. Hence, it can be imagined that the return of these two star players is going to add to the coach’s burden.

During their pre-match press conference, Graham Potter said that he will take a late decision about Reece James. He said, “Reece – we’ll make a decision on him tomorrow.” About N’Golo Kante, he said, “It’s a complex one with him because he has had a long time out. It’ll be a case of how we get him back up to speed to play Premier League or Champions League football. He won’t be able to go back in for 90 minutes any time soon but the fact he is with us is exciting.”
Talking about their coming game against Dortmund, Graham Potter said about the fans, “They know the importance of the game tomorrow night. They want the team to go through, to progress, and they know how important they are.” He added, “We want to make sure it’s tough for Dortmund away from home in the Champions League and we need our supporters for that.”
Taking their previous performances into consideration, the Chelsea boss said, “We’ve had some games where we could have scored more than one and we need that performance tomorrow night. We’re playing against a top team, a team that is in a good place with the wins they’ve had.”
