The player currently has a contract deal till 2027 with a whopping release clause of €120m. The London Blues eye the youngster as a part of their rebuild project and are considering offering a price upfront.
Though the club president claimed that the player can leave in the winter transfer window if any club manages to pay the release clause, but then the club put up a statement to deny the news.

“SL Benfica clarifies that at no time did the President of the Club, Rui Costa, utter the words that are being disseminated in Italy by DAZN. Sport Lisboa e Benfica reiterates its intention to count on the player Enzo Fernández until the end of the season,” said the club statement.

Chelsea is currently placed 8th on the points table and is looking for a major turnaround in the Premier League race. With Reece James injured yet again in their last, the English defender is expected to miss action for around 3-4 weeks. In the meantime, the club is looking to secure the transfer of another defender, Benoit Badiashile who currently plays for Monaco.
