Chelsea would structure the deal in such a way that they pay three instalments of £37.3m over three years. This deal is similar to what Atletico Madrid did when they bought Joao Felix from Benfica in 2019. If this deal goes through, Enzo Fernandez would be the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
While this deal brings more money to Benfica, they will also have to wait 3 years to receive the full payment. Hence, the Portuguese club might hesitate for the same. While a lot of other clubs were interested in Enzo, Chelsea has come as the front-runner.
