According to the report by The Athletic, the French clubs have reached a “total agreement” with the English giants for the transfer of the 21-year-old. Chelsea are currently scheduling his medical ahead of an official announcement.

Benoit Badiashile set for Chelsea move

Chelsea has been in search of a left-sided center-back and has tried to sign with Josko Gvardiol. However, the club was unable to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig. Besides Masvidal, Chelsea has been looking at several other options for the position.

Chelsea even enquired about 23-year-old Evan N’Dicka of Eintracht Frankfurt and 20-year-old Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen. Badiashile has a lot of experience under his belt having made 135 appearances for Monaco in the past four and a half seasons. The lanky player has also been called twice by Didier Deschamps to the French national team.

Badiashile’s potential arrival will help to reinforce a part of the Chelsea squad that suffered after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left on free transfers last summer. He would join Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly, Trevoh Chalobah, and Wesley Fofana in competing for the center-back spots. Marc Cucurella and Reece James will be playing the left and right back positions.

Besides Badiashile, the Blues are reportedly trying to sign Argentina and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who is keen to join Chelsea as soon as possible. The blues have also agreed to deals to sign David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos.
