Chelsea has reportedly rejected Manchester United’s opening offer for midfielder Mason Mount. Man United’s initial offer of £40 million was turned down. Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge has one year left, and he has rejected two chances to extend it. The 24-year-old’s exit has appeared more imminent, and Manchester United has emerged as the front-runner to sign him.

However, Mount is valued quite differently by the two Premier League powerhouses. The England international has a price tag of £70 million, and Chelsea must decide whether to sell him because his contract expires the next year.

Mauricio Pochettino, the newly appointed Blues manager, is eager to retain Mount. His position on whether to cash in on him or let him finish out his contract is unknown, though. However, To prevent players from leaving on their own, owner Todd Boehly has made it a top goal to trade stars who have just one year left on their contracts.

Mount has slipped down the Stamford Bridge hierarchy as a result of his poor play this year. In 35 games across different leagues, he registered three goals and six assists.

With Chelsea, the English midfielder has won the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Champions League. Although he has supported the team since he was a youngster, he appears to be moving away.
