Chelsea on Sale: Chelsea sponsor ‘THREE’ have suspended their sponsorship – OFFICIAL STATEMENT
“In light of the government’s recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club…”
“Including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice. “We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately.”
“However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do.”
“As a mobile network, the best way we can support the people of Ukraine is to ensure refugees arriving in the UK from the conflict and customers currently in Ukraine can stay connected to the people that matter to them.”
“Therefore, we are offering connectivity packages to all Ukrainians arriving in the UK, and those in Ukraine.”
A government document has come out clearly stating how Abramovich and other Russians will face sanctions and how his assets will be frozen right before the sale of his club, Chelsea and also his permit of travelling to the UK will be denied.
There are chances that his jets and yachts which are under his name can also be seized. Abramovich is worth is an estimated £9.4 billion ($12.36 billion), according to the UK government.
This puts the future of Chelsea Football Club in major doubt. However, they are allowed to operate under a special license until May 31 as shared by Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries. The Blues will not be able to sell tickets anymore for their upcoming games as the season ticket holders will be the ones visiting the games. The contracted staff and players will be duly paid. So that is a relief in one sector but Roman Abramovich at the moment won’t be able to get anything in return by selling his club.
Roman Abramovich's assets have been frozen by the UK government, meaning he is unable to sell Chelsea.

“I know this brings some uncertainty, but the government will work with the league and clubs to keep football being played while ensuring sanctions hit those intended. Football clubs are cultural assets and the bedrock of our communities. We’re committed to protecting them,” Dorres acknowledged on Twitter.
The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson also shared his views on this topic as he said, “Boris Johnson’s statement on sanctioning Abramovich & 6 other UK-linked Russian oligarchs: “There can be no safe havens for those who have supported Putin’s vicious assault on Ukraine. Today’s sanctions are the latest step in the UK’s unwavering support for the Ukrainian people.”
