Chelsea cross £1 billion mark in Transfers after Cole Palmer move

After sealing £45 million deal for Cole Palmer with Manchester City, Chelsea are closing in on £1 billion since Todd Boehly takeover

Chelsea: The Blues have been making moves in the transfer market. Under Todd Boehly’s leadership, Chelsea has been spending like there is no tomorrow. Now, after their move for Man City’s Cole Palmer inches closer, Chelsea are set to break another landmark. After this move of £45million for Palmer, Chelsea would have crossed the £1 billion mark in transfers under his leadership.

The Blues have spent more than £300 million for the third consecutive transfer window. Since Boehly took control last year, they have now earned more than £1 billion, including add-ons, thanks to the Palmer agreement.

The 21-year-old won the age group Euros with England in the summer and is expected to be the newest member of Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

The Times claims that Chelsea and City have reached an agreement for the Wythenshawe-born player. They continue by saying the signing by the Blues is “close” to happening.

Prior to scoring in their Super Cup victory over Sevilla, Palmer scored the first goal in Man City’s Community Shield loss to Arsenal earlier this month.

But he has managed just ten minutes of action in their first three Premier League games – with that cameo coming off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Burnley.

Guardiola on Palmer move

In 41 games for Man City, Palmer has six goals and two assists. He made 25 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s Treble-winning team the previous year. However, just seven of those occurred while he was a starter because he was compelled to contribute in only a little way to City’s victories. Palmer was not accepted in Brighton’s £30 million offer.

Talking about the young player early in the window, Guardiola said, ‘I don’t know [if he will stay]. When we arrived I had the opinion that he wanted to leave but now I don’t know. I don’t think a loan is going to happen. He’s going to stay or he’s going to be sold.’

Following the injuries to Carney Chukwuemeka and Christopher Nkunku, this acquisition will further strengthen Pochettino’s attacking options.
