Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday stunned Kylian Mbappe’s PSG to reach their third UEFA Champions League final. Dortmund, who were leading 1-0 in the first leg, eked out another 0-1 victory at PSG’s home to advance to the final. A tough task await Dortmund as they will face the winner of Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid in the UCL final.
Hummels the difference-maker
Five minutes into the second half, defender Matt Hummels headed home from a corner to send the 1997 champions into their first European club championship final since 2013.
While Kylian Mbappe, who is most likely going to leave PSG at the end of the season, was not the same outstanding player he usually is, Luis Enrique’s team hit the woodwork four times but was unable to find the net.
Lacked efficiency: PSG skipper
“We lacked efficiency,” PSG captain Marquinhos said.
“There are still positives to take from this competition. At the beginning nobody thought we would go that far. We’re out in the semifinals but with a new coach and a new project.”
Dortmund gaffer ecstatic
Dortmund coach Edin Terzic said his team deserved their place in the final.
“I am very proud, very happy. We beat PSG and we kept a clean sheet. We had a bit of luck but we deserve to go to the final,” he said.
