Casemiro Red Card: Casemiro has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world of football for a while now. But there is no denying that he is a rash player who loves tackling anyone at the drop of a hat. He has been a player who has never received a straight red card at Real Madrid. But at United, he has gotten 2 red cards in the span of 3 Premier League games. He will miss four Premier League games, and the Red Devils have decided not to appeal the decision, even though Erik ten Hag was vocal with his displeasure regarding the decision. The Brazilian midfielder was initially shown a yellow card by the referee, Anthony Taylor. But then, after consulting the VAR monitor, the referee decided to change the color and sent him off. Erik ten Hag was not a happy man after the red card and expressed his thoughts after the game. But, United have released a statement saying that they would not appeal the red card. The statement said that the club didn’t think there was a high chance that the appeal would result in the overturning of the ban.

Ten Hag spoke about the lack of consistency from the side of referees and also VAR. He also spoke about Casemiro’s clean record at Real Madrid. Ten Hag said, ‘It is inconsistent. The referees are coming at the start of the season with a policy: we are the Premier League, we want intensity and Casemiro, across European games, over 500, he never had a red card but now, twice. He plays tough but he’s fair.’
He continued, ‘Same as against Crystal Palace, so it’s very debatable. When you freeze it [Sunday’s challenge], it looks bad. Everyone who knows something about football, knows what is bad, what is fair and Casemiro is a fair player. Tough, but fair, and it shows over 500 games in big leagues and he was never sent off. He’s disappointed.’
