Bundesliga Title Race: The Bundesliga title race has been the most exhilarating among all European competitions. Bayern Munich sit at the top of the league table leading by a mere 1 point from 2nd-placed Borussia Dortmund. This has been the story of these two title contenders the entire season as both teams have been at each other’s neck for the most part of the season. Both teams now have only 2 matches to seal their fate and no one still has a hint who will hold the trophy on 27th May. Follow Bundesliga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Bayern Munich are chasing their 32nd Bundesliga title win and 11th successive title win, but Borussia Dortmund have not made it easy for them this season. As Bayern have dropped their form in the last few months, Dortmund have picked up their pace. During the first head-to-head of the season, back in October, the match in Dortmund ended in a 2-2 stalemate. However, Bayern managed to take the lead and win 4-2 during the second head-to-head in Munich in April. Both teams now have only 2 matches left to clinch the trophy for themselves.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have been going through a tumultuous time throughout the season. However, they have still managed to get to the top of the table with 68 points after 32 matches. They won 20 games and drew 8, but lost only 4 games in this season. However, 3 of those defeats have come since January. Since the team came back from the winter break, the club sacked their former coach Julian Nagelsmann at the end of March. However, Bayern’s condition has not gone uphill since the arrival of new coach Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel started his job and had to prepare for the title race match against Dortmund on April 1. Fortunately, they won, but including that match, Tuchel has managed to win 4, draw 2, and lose all 3 games since January. Bayern will face RB Leipzig at home and FC Koln on the road in their remaining two all-important matches. Leipzig are a contender for the top 4 spots in the league. Hence, winning this one will not be easy. However, with just a 1-point lead, they cannot afford to lose or draw in any of these remaining two matches.

Bayern Munich Remaining Matches:

  • Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig – 20th May – 10 PM
  • Koln vs Bayern Munich – 27th May – 7 PM

Borussia Dortmund

While changes at Bayern Munich have brought more misery than success, Borussia Dortmund have actually upped their game since January. They have managed to remain unbeaten in 14 straight matches at home in the league. They won 13 of them and have also won their last 11 consecutive home league matches. They have also scored a whopping 46 goals in these last 11 wins at Signal Iduna Park. Their last two title-deciding matches are against Augsburg on the road and against Mainz at home.

Augsburg are positioned 13th in the league table, whereas Mainz are in the 9th position. While Dortmund don’t seem to be in the mood to stop any time soon, the pressure of these two matches will be huge on them. They are only 1 point behind Bayern in the 2nd position with 67 points from 32 games. They have managed to win 21, draw 4, and lose 7 matches. Their title-winning chances depend hugely on Bayern dropping the ball. Dortmund need to be ready in case that happens, so their only option is winning these two matches at any cost.

Borussia Dortmund Remaining Matches

  • Augsburg vs Borussia Dortmund – 21st May – 9 PM
  • Borussia Dortmund vs Mainz – 27th May – 7 PM
