Brazil vs Senegal: Selecao EYE second consecutive friendly match WIN against another West African nation

Brazil face Senegal in their third friendly match after World Cup. In their last two friendly matches, they lost one and won the other.

Brazil vs Senegal: International Friendlies Since Brazil coach Tite left his job after the World Cup, Selecao have been without a permanent manager. After that, they played only one friendly match in March against Morocco which they lost by a narrow 2-1 margin. They played their first match after that against Guinea two days ago and won it by a 4-1 scoreline. This victory brought their win tally to 5 out of 6 friendly matches since June, 2022. They will try to win their second consecutive friendly match against Senegal on Tuesday.

Brazil started their World Cup campaign as one of the favourites to win the tournament. They started their journey well as they won their first two group matches against Switzerland and Serbia. They lost their last group-stage match to Cameroon. However, they were already at the top of their group and progressed to the round of 16. They sailed past South Korea as they won by a 4-1 margin against them. However, going into the quarter-final, they lost to Croatia and their World Cup journey ended there.

Brazil coach Tite, who was their manager for six years, left the job after the World Cup. Since then, they have not hired any permanent coach as their U20 coach Ramon Menezes has taken over for now. He has managed 2 matches till now. His first match at the helm was against Morocco which they lost by a narrow 2-1 margin. However, he turned it around in their next match which was against Guinea two days ago and they won by a big 4-1 margin.

Brazil opened the scoresheet in the 27th minute with a goal from Joelinton. Within 3 minutes, Rodrygo doubled the lead. 6 minutes later, Serhou Guirassy scored one for Guinea in the 36th minute. That remained the scoreline at the end of the first half. As the second half started, Brazil took back their 2-goal lead again with a goal from Rodrygo’s Real Madrid teammate Eder Militao within 2 minutes into the second half. Then with 2 minutes left on the clock, they received a penalty.

Another Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr converted the penalty and ended the match with that goal. This victory brought their friendly matches win tally to 5 out of 6 matches since June, last year. Their only defeat came against Morocco in March this year. However, the Real Madrid trio – Militao, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo were the ones who helped Brazil win their last match. Hence, they will surely start from the first whistle against Senegal on Tuesday. Their teammate made his 71st appearance for Brazil against Guinea.

He will be donning the Selecao colours once again on Tuesday wearing the captain’s armband. The West Ham United player Lucas Paqueta will feature beside him and help him in the midfield. Newcastle United’s Joelinton impressed everyone with his performance in their last match. Hence, the coach could be starting him in the midfield as well. Monaco defender Vanderson will be pushing to make a debut for his country. If that happens, Danilo will have to make way for the player.
