Brazil vs Colombia Live: World Cup Qualifiers LIVE – BRA vs COL LIVE – Brazil travel to Colombia, determined to salvage their World Cup qualifiers campaign. Selecao ended their 37-game unbeaten streak in the World Cup qualifiers when they shockingly lost against Uruguay last month. Now they have gone 2 games without a win. Whereas, Colombia are unbeaten in their last 15 matches throughout all competitions. They are also unbeaten in the campaign so far with a win and 3 draws. They will look to better their position in the 10-nation CONMEBOL standings.

Brazil lost a World Cup qualifiers match for the first time since 2015 in their last match against Uruguay. This defeat came after a 1-1 draw against Venezuela in the previous match. That concluded their poor run of form in October.

With that, Selecao recorded 1 draw, 1 defeat, and 2 wins in this qualifiers campaign. They are now sitting in 3rd place, 5 points behind table-toppers Argentina. They will look to go back to winning ways and improve their position in the CONMEBOL 10-nation table in the meantime.

Colombia are performing quite well after failing to qualifying for the World Cup last year. They are on a 15-game unbeaten streak since February last year when they lost to Argentina. They’ve registered one win in their opening World Cup qualifiers match against Venezuela.

Since then, they’ve drawn against Chile, Uruguay, and Ecuador. Ranked 17th by FIFA will face Brazil for the first time in about 2 years. They’ve also failed to win against Selecao in the last 7 meetings, but will now look to break that record.

Brazil Team News

  • Right-back Santiago Arias and Zenit St Petersburg attacker Mateo Cassiera have both withdrawn from the national team due to injuries they sustained. In the absence of Arias, his FC Cincinnati teammate Yeeson Mosquera should be taking the spot on the right side of the back four.
  • The coach has called up Liverpool winger Luis Diaz who reunited with his father less than a week ago. His father was released after 12 days in captivity by Colombia’s ELN guerrilla group. Diaz should be joining Werder Bremen loanee Rafael Santos Borre and Bournemouth loanee Luis Sinisterra in the final third.
  • Richard Rios from Palmeiras, Jhon Arias from Fluminense, and James Rodriguez from Sao Paulo have been called up for the matches this month. All of them should be starting the match in the midfield.

Colombia Team News

  • Brazil have injury problems of their own with Ederson being forced to withdraw from the squad with a foot injury. The goalkeeper will now join Richarlison, Neymar, Eder Militao, and Casemiro away from the field. On the other hand, Gabriel Jesus has missed the last 5 matches for Arsenal due to a muscle issue who has still been selected for the match.
  • Jesus’s involvement in the game will depend on late assessment of his injury. However, in the absence of Ederson, the Selecao coach will line up Alisson Becker from the starting whistle under the bars. Additionally, the coach might start Emerson Royal at the right-back position along with Carlos Augusto, Marquinhos, and Gabriel Magalhaes to form the defense line.
  • Fluminense star Andre has been called up to the squad, but will have to compete with Joelinton and Douglas Luiz to start at the centre of midfield alongside Bruno Guimaraes. The coach has also called up uncapped players Atletico Mineiro’s Paulinho and Brighton’s Joao Pedro and they could get their debut in the match against Colombia.
  • The coach also called up the 17-year-old Endrick from Palmeiras. However, the talented youngster might not start the match with competitions coming from Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. The coach also has two more options in the final third – Barcelona’s Raphinha and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli who has also missed a few matches for the Gunners with an unspecified injury.
