Following a vote among FIFA’s 211 members, Brazil on Friday was chosen to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup instead of a joint bid from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.
The FIFA Congress on Friday selected from a reduced field of two candidates to host the 2027 tournament after a joint bid by the United States and Mexico was pulled late last month, and South Africa withdrew its candidacy in November.
Joy for Brazil
Following the announcement of the results, the Brazilian bid team embraced and rejoiced on the podium, hailing the outcome as a triumph for women’s soccer, their nation, and South America.

Votes matter
For the first time, every association that makes up FIFA was able to provide feedback on who would host the women’s competition. The FIFA Council, the governing body’s decision-making committee, made the decision in the past.
In the electronic voting, 207 member associations were able to cast ballots. Brazil was the clear favorite to win the bid, especially after placing higher in a FIFA assessment report released the previous week.
