Borussia Dortmund etched out a narrow 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League semi finals. Niclas Fuellkrug scored in the first half of the game to secure a win for the German side. Kylian Mbappe and Co found it hard to score part the German giants at the Signal Iduna Park.
PSG’s Champions League winning jinx continues as the underdogs of the tie, i.e Borussia Dortmund heads into the second leg of the game with a win. Niclas Fuellkrug executed a lovely finish fire his side part the half hour mark. Should Dortmund go on to win Parc des Princes they will go on to play the UCL Finals.
Dortmund overpower PSG
Borussia Dortmund went neck to neck with PSG to put up a good fight with the Parisian side. Kylian Mbappe and Co fought really hard but was largely neutralised by the defence of the Yellow Army. Marcel Sabitzer almost doubled the lead for his side towards the end of the half which saw Gianluigi Donnarumma bring out a big save.
PSG recovered after the initial hackle. Kyliam Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi parried to score in the second half but were denied by Dortmund’s keeper and the bar post. Now in the second leg, it will be a huge task for PSG to overturn the 1-0 deficit, should they plan on reaching the finals.
“It was a well-deserved win, a good team performance. We could have scored more goals, but so could they. That’s why the result is OK from my point of view. We ran a lot, but that’s necessary in a game like this. You have to earn your way to Wembley. All we need now is a draw in the second leg, but we also want to win next week,” said Dortmund coach Edin Terzic.
