Basking in the glory of the recent Intercontinental Cup win Indian Football is set to prepare for the upcoming challenge. Sunil Chhetri and co will look for yet another silverware as they partcipate in the SAFF Championship 2023 in Bangaluru from June 21st to July 4th. Igor Stimac’s men have been paired alongsiode Pakistan, Kuwait, and Nepal. Cross border rivals Bangladesh are in the Group B.

Bangladesh, Nepal and Maldives have already arrived for the SAFF Football Championship and went through training sessions at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday.

Kuwait is expected early morning on Monday followed by Bhutan while defending champions India and Lebanon will arrive later on Monday after the Intercontinental Cup final on Sunday in Bhubaneswar.

Pakistan’s arrival is yet to be announced as their visa formalities are taking some time. The Pakistan Football Federation received a NOC from the Ministry of IPC on Friday to take part in India. The Pakistani delegation is scheduled to depart from Mauritius and arrive in India on June 19.

Nepal team trained on Sunday morning while Bangladesh went through their paces in the afternoon and Maldives trained in the evening. 

Kuwait and Nepal will play the first match of the SAFF Championship 2023 on June 21 in Bengaluru, followed by India and Pakistan later that day. On June 22, Lebanon takes on Bangladesh in the morning while the Maldives takes on Bhutan in the afternoon in Group B.

The semi-finals, which will take place on July 1, will include the top two teams from each group, with the final taking place on July 4.
