Bayern Munich Transfer: Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has verbally agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich. The clubs still need to come together to agree on a transfer fee, but the transfer could soon be done. However, that poses a problem for the current English champions who are already trying to sell two other defenders. As per reports, if Walker leaves, Man City are set to go for Bayern’s defender Benjamin Pavard as his replacement. With his versatile nature, he could fit perfectly in Pep Guardiola’s Man City.

Manchester City are set to lose one of their most-experienced defenders, Kyle Walker. As per the transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Walker has verbally agreed on personal terms with the German champions Bayern Munich. The 33-year-old has one year left on his contract and Man City want him to stay for another year. They have been trying to convince Walker to sign another contract. However, the player is reluctant to do so as he fell down the pecking order and saw relatively less playing time last season.
Walker featured in a total of 39 games throughout all competitions last season. He was a key player for the most part of the season, but there was a period in March-April when he was mostly left out of the starting XI. He started only 3 Champions League matches last season. Walker especially expressed his disappointment when he was subbed for only a few minutes during the Champions League final. The rumours that he could leave Man City began at that time.
He has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich since last month. Talks were ongoing, but now, he has agreed terms with the German team. However, the deal is far from being done as a lot of details remain to be cleared. Additionally, the two clubs will need to come together to agree on a transfer fee as well. If Walker leaves Man City, then they will need to soon find a replacement. As their only senior full-back, Walker is valuable for Man City.

He will bring variety and depth to the squad if he stays. Additionally, Man City are trying to sell Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte in this transfer window. That’s why they want Walker to sign another contract. However, he has the option to leave, so he might choose to. In that case, Man City are thinking of approaching Benjamin Pavard as Walker’s replacement. Similar to Walker, Pavard also has one year left on his contract. He has communicated to Bayern that he doesn’t want to sign an extension.
Hence, he is on the market and Man City could come knocking. Pavard is 27 years old and versatile. He can play both as a right-back and a centre-back. Bayern used him more as a centre-back throughout the season, but he could fit well into Guardiola’s Man City with his diversity. Additionally, his age will benefit Man City more as they can get a long-term deal from this. City are also targeting Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig. However, he has a huge €100 million asking price on his head.
