Barcelona New Coach: Pep Guardiola to attend Xavi’s presentation as new Barcelona Manager: FC Barcelona announced the return of Xavi Hernandez to the club last week. The 41-year-old ex-Barca player has been appointed as the first-team manager after Ronald Koeman’s sacking.

Xavi, who ended his playing career with Barca in 2015, moved to Qatari club Al Sadd and continued as a footballer for four years before eventually becoming the manager in July 2019. In his two years reign at Al Sadd, the Spaniard won seven trophies.

Following Barcelona’s recent struggles, Xavi who is a FIFA World Cup winner with Spain will look to get some positive results at the club he won it all during his playing time. The new Barcelona Manager will be presented to the media on Monday.

Accompanied by president Joan Laporta, Xavi will participate in a photo session and press conference. The event will feature current Barcelona captains and Xavi’s former teammates, Gerard Pique & Sergi Roberto, who will be present at the event, although Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets will not make it as they are away with Spain on international duty.

Former Barcelona manager and Xavi’s former mentor, Pep Guardiola is also expected to be in attendance. It was under the current Manchester City boss that Xavi grew into one of the best midfielders of the modern era. Having his mentor Pep Guardiola present as he prepares to take charge of the Catalans’ first team will certainly be a special moment for Xavi Hernandez.

Guardiola on Xavi:

He knows the environment which is so important. He knows the game, he has passion. He has more experience now that I had when I took over (Fc Barcelona).

Xavi’s first match in the La Liga will be against 11th place Espanyol who are level on points with 9th placed Barcelona. He will be looking for a warm reception from the home fans on his return at Camp Nou.
