The Ballon d’Or 2023 ceremony is less than a fortnight away. The 67th Ballon d’Or is being portrayed as a two-horse race between Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi. Ahead of France Football magazine’s much-awaited award this year, we bring to you every detail about the gala award night.

Messi won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina and is tipped as the favourite to win his 8th Ballon d’Or this year. The forward has since moved to Major League Soccer club Inter Miami. He has helped the Herons win their first silverware in the form of the League Cup. He is one of the strongest contenders to win this year’s Ballon d’Or owing to his fantastic performance in the last World Cup where he scored seven goals and assisted another three to win the Golden Ball.

On the other hand, Haaland won the treble in his first season with Manchester City. The Norwegian played an momumental part in Manchester City’s heroics, scoring  52 goals across 53 appearances. This will be the Norwegian’s first Ballon d’Or if he manages wins it.
