For Arsenal, there is no Granit Xhaka. Due to sickness, the Swiss midfielder is not participating in the team; Fabio Vieira will start in his stead. Better news is that Oleksandr Zinchenko, who missed the West Ham game due to a muscle issue, will start in defence.

As anticipated, William Saliba is still out with a back injury, thus Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes are once again partnered at centre back. Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are in the wide positions, with Gabriel Jesus remaining in the front.

Three players from the Southampton lineup that lost to Crystal Palace last time out are changed by manager Ruben Selles. Mohamed Elyounoussi, Romain Perraud, and Adam Armstrong join the group. Joe Aribo and Kamaldeen Sulemana are moved to the bench, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is on loan, is unable to play against his parent team.

Once again, the hosts give up the ball cheaply, and Southampton is on them in a flash. Alcaraz passes the ball to Theo Walcott on the right side of the box, and the former Arsenal player coolly finishes past Ramsdale. Despite Southampton’s skill, Arsenal’s defence is once again terrible. After that, Zinchenko convenes an emergency huddle.

Southampton takes an early lead thanks to Carlos ALcaraz. With only 30 seconds left, the Arsenal custodian has the ball in his own box and is not under any pressure. He makes a terrible error of judgement when attempting to thread a pass through to Zinchenko. Ramsdale is out of position when Alcaraz intercepts, centres himself, and shoots a diagonal finish into the far corner.

For Arsenal, Garbiel Martinelli scores a goal. Once they get the ball in the middle of the pitch, Odegaard sends Saka off to the right. Martinelli is there to finish forcefully from approximately 10 yards out after he does well to get to the byline and draw the ball out. To energise the crowd, he made gestures.

Southampton increased their lead with Duje Caleta Car in the second half. When Bednarek was substituted in the first half, Ward-Prowse sent in a corner from the right, Bella-Kotchap flicked it on, and Caleta-Car was unmarked to head in at the far post.

Martin Odegaard makes Arsenal more competitive. On the edge of the Southampton box, Ben White passes the ball back to Odegaard, who then surges inside and curls a beautiful finish into the far corner. Although his celebration is subdued, minutes later Saka finds the equalizer for Arsenal.
