Arsenal were second-best in the second half, amounting just three shots to Wolves’ 10. It’s to their credit that they managed to hold out for the win after going down to 10 men, even if they did dabble in the dark arts to do so. They rise to fifth in the Premier League table, one point behind West Ham United with two games in hand. Wolves stay eighth, down but not out of the European hunt.

A moment of madness then overcame Gabriel Martinelli. A free-kick routine by Arsenal was terribly executed, Wolves took the throw-in quickly despite Martinelli blatantly trying to block it. The Brazilian didn’t give up and chased back but maliciously bundled over Semedo. Michael Oliver comes over and gives him a yellow card for each offence and sends him for an early shower.

Arsenal had an opportunity to put the game to bed when Alexander Lacazette is put in behind but coming in from the left-hand side he could only curl his shot wide of the upright. An expected onslaught ensued but some defensive heroics from the visitors’ defence kept Wolves at bay by the finest of margins.
