Former India superstar Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first to send his wishes across after Argentina were crowned champions on Sunday. He congratulated the team for ‘doing it for Messi’. The Master Blaster saved special praise for Emiliano Martinez for his fine save in Extra time, to keep La Albiceleste in the contest.

Jasprit Bumrah termed the game a fitting World Cup farewell to the greatest ever. He suggested that the world Cup final ‘couldn’t get any better’ and congratulated Argentina on their victory.
