Morocco faced one of the strongest earthquakes on Friday. Sofyan Amrabat and Hakim Ziyech have sent messages of support for the people of Morocco. Their country faced a 6.8-magnitude earthquake last night. As per reports, the Ighil area of Morocco faced this at 11:11 pm local time. The magnitude of this earthquake caused big damage to the locals. It’s considered one of the most devastating earthquakes ever.
The death toll have increased since the time of impact and we could say, this is the toughest time for the people of Morocco. The country’s interior ministry informed that 820 people have been killed and 672 have been injured. 205 of injured people are seriously hurt. The nation got support around the world and big athletes shared their thoughts on this.
Amrabat and Ziyech are the heroes in Morocco for their contribution to football. They are instrumental in their country’s historic run to the semifinals last year in the FIFA World Cup. The World Cup stars posted stories on their Instagram accounts and shared their support with Morocco. They have asked people to pray for their country.
Not just the players, PSG and Real Madrid also released statements on the Morocco earthquake. One statement of Los Blancos reads. “Real Madrid C.F., its president and Board of Directors express their deepest concern and solidarity with the victims of the earthquake in Morocco in recent hours. Our club extends its condolences to the families of the deceased and all the Moroccan people. Likewise, we wish the injured a speedy recovery and we transmit all of our strength and affection.”
PSG also posted their statement on Twitter which reads: “The entire Paris Saint-Germain family is with our Moroccan friends in the wake of the terrible earthquake. We send our condolences to those who have lost their loved ones, our thoughts are with you.” Man United also shared, “Our hearts are with the victims and those impacted by the overnight earthquake in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco.“
The international break is going on and Morocco is also supposed to take part in it. Their national team was supposed to feature in AFCON qualifiers against Liberia in Agadir on Saturday. Amid the heavy earthquake, this game has been postponed for now.
