Real Madrid improved to 2-0 in La Liga with a 3-1 victory over Almeria at the Power Horse Stadium. Jude Bellingham scored twice to make it three goals in two games.
Almeria began with the odds stacked against them, having finished 17th in the previous term. Rayo Vallecano defeated them in their season opener. They were three minutes ahead. Sergio Arribas, who left Real Madrid earlier this month, stooping to head in Lucas Robertone’s lofted cross.
Real failed to respond at first, as Aurelien Tchouameni drew a good stop from Luis Maximiano. They drew level with 19 minutes remaining, however, with Bellingham scoring again.

After being hauled over by Edgar Gonzalez, Rodrygo earned a free kick in a favourable position. Toni Kroos’ initial effort to slip in Fran Garcia on the left was unsuccessful. Dani Carvajal flicked in a cross from the opposite flank as Real altered the play. Federico Valverde drove it down to Bellingham, who found the distant corner.
Almeria refused to fold, with Robertone and Iddrisu Baba both drawing long-range saves from Andriy Lunin. Just before the break, Real felt they had taken the lead. Kroos’ shot from the edge of the box was disallowed due to a foul by Carvajal moments earlier.
After an even first half, Real took the lead on the 60-minute mark when Bellingham met Kroos’ inswinging cross and nodded over Maximiano and into the back of the net. Almeria came near to equalising when Luis Suarez headed narrowly wide of the post, but Bellingham added another assist to his tally when he set up Vinicius Jr for a decisive third goal.
