AIFF withdraws tender related to online travel management after legal head’s letter

The letter tackled issues related to a number of issues ranging from disparities in pay to dubious choices that hampered AIFF's standing.

The AIFF on Wednesday cancelled a tender related to the empanelment of online travel management of the organisation. The AIFF, in a letter on Wednesday, cancelled the tender. The cancellation came after head of AIFF’s legal wing, Nilanjan Bhattacharjee, penned a letter to President Kalyan Chaubey, shedding light on critical issues plaguing the organization.

The letter tackled issues related to a number of issues ranging from disparities in pay to dubious choices that hampered AIFF’s standing.

When it came to outlining urgent issues that are essential to the survival of AIFF, Nilanjan Bhattacharjee did not hold back. One of the major grievances raised by Nilanjan was the absence of consultation on legal matters concerning AIFF, despite holding the position of Nodal legal officer. He claimed that contracts were neither vetted nor signed by him, leading to privacy breaches and legal complications.

The letter indicated a lack of redress from the recipient’s office despite persistent follow-ups, which exacerbated the situation.

However, Chaubey at the time responded by saying “We receive a lot of mails, the concerned department will pick and address it. In any case, the allegations of termination of services and holding back retainership, if at all, is a matter for HR dept. and not President’s office.”

However, that Chaubey had taken the accusations seriously was confirmed by the fact that the AIFF cancelled the legal tender notice issued to onboard an online travel management company.
