Indian Football is nothing less of a drama nowadays. The big breaking news of the day is that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has terminated the contract of head coach Igor Stimac. But the game doesn’t stop there. As per reports a long legal battle is set to commence.
Reports claim that Igor Stimac was ready to take blame and resign without taking a single penny of compensation, but there was a catch. He wanted the AIFF top brass to take blame and also resign. Now since that hasn’t taken place, a long and arduous battle is set to continue.
The Croatian had 2 years left on his original contract. Initially there were claims that it would be a huge burden for the AIFF to pay out his entire compensation fees. But now a long battle is set to continue as both bodies
AIFF Terminate Igor Stimac’s Contract!
Noting the disappointing outcome of the Senior Men’s National Team’s FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification campaign, the members unanimously agreed that a new Head Coach would be best placed to take the team forward.
The meeting instructed the Acting Secretary General Mr. Satyanarayan to notify the current Head Coach Mr. Igor Stimac of its decision to terminate his engagement.
Pursuant to the above, a notice of termination has been issued to Mr. Stimac by the AIFF Secretariat, and he stands relieved of his obligations with immediate effect. The AIFF thanks Mr. Stimac for his service to the National Team and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
