AIFF to probe match-fixing approach in I-League

Match manipulation allegations have rocked Indian football, with the AIFF investigating malpractice during the I-League.

Indian football has been rocked with a ‘match-fixing’ approach scandal. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) issued a statement on Thursday, saying that they have found that several players have been approached to manipulate matches. The players were approached to manipulate the outcome of the ongoing I-League matches.

The AIFF and its president, Kalyan Chaubey, have made their stance clear when it comes to their corrupt practices. In their statement, AIFF made it clear that they’d take stern action against such miscreants.

“The AIFF would like to reiterate its zero-tolerance policy towards any activity that impacts the integrity of its competitions or otherwise brings the game of football into disrepute. AIFF is committed to taking every step within its power to prevent corrupt practices from undermining the values of football,” the governing body said about match fixing approach in I-League.

Kalyan Chaubey reiterated what the AIFF had earlier said, promising that strict action against any malpractice would be taken.

“We have received information on multiple approaches to our players.well thoroughly examine the incidents, investigate, and take all necessary action.

“We are committed to protecting our players and our beautiful game and will not tolerate any attempts of this nature to put the players and the game at risk.”

“We will also continue to strengthen our institutional capacities to not only counter such threats but also educate our players and officials on how to recognise, respond to, and report incidents of this nature,” concluded Chaubey.

The I-League 2023 season began on October 28. As many as 40 matches will be played in the 13-team competition, which will be concluded on December 24.
