AIFF suspends Prabir Das for three matches for misconduct in MCFC vs KBFC

The disciplinary committee's decision was based on Prabir's violent conduct towards the referee during the match against Mumbai City FC

Kerala Blasters FC defender Prabir Das has been provisionally suspended for a period of three matches by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The disciplinary committee’s decision was based on Prabir’s violent conduct towards the referee during the match against Mumbai City FC.

These punishments come in the wake of the fracas between players from both sides during the ISL match on October 8. Mumbai City FC registered a 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters in the match, which took place at Mumbai Football Arena.

Prabir’s suspension also means that he will be out of action during a crucial run of games. The Kerala Blasters next play NorthEast United and Odisha FC at home. The Blue army will then travel to Kolkata to face Carles Cuadrat’s East Bengal.

Prabir Das’ absence will pose a lot of questions in the KBFC defense. The team will require to adjust and find a suitable replacement for the seasoned campaigner, especially as Milos Drincic is also facing a three-match suspension.

The match between Kerala Blaster and Mumbai City FC resulted in a highly charged atmosphere both on and off the field, resulting in ten yellow cards and a pair of red cards for the referee. In the final minutes of the match, a physical altercation between players took place.

With 10 minutes of stoppage time remaining in the first half, the match turned into a full-blown tussle when Kerala’s Milos Drincic put pressure on Mumbai’s Mehtab Singh and was penalised. Drincic was shown a red card, while Yoell Van Nieff was also sent off. While Mumbai went on to win the match 3-0, the incident marred the 10th edition of the tournament.
