I-League on Tuesday cancelled their tender invitations for the broadcasting of I-League matches. A tender cancellation notice has been issued by AIFF. It states that their previous notices regarding the broadcast and production of the league matches stands cancelled. The notice does not provide a reason for the cancellation though. Instead, it asks applicants to contact AIFF to get a refund of the security deposit. The cancellation is likely to fuel a battle again between the I-League clubs and the India’s football federation

I-League’s appeal
Earlier in the year, the Super-Cup qualifying games which were primarily the I-League teams, were not broadcasted. This prompted the clubs to express their displeasure over the ‘step-motherly’ treatment meted out to them.
In a letter to AIFF dated August 10, Several I-League clubs urged for a transparent broadcasting and open tender process.
“We, the representatives of various I-League clubs, write to you with an earnest request that concerns the broadcasting of our matches and the overall integrity of the League.
“We believe that our proposal aligns with the spirit of fairness, transparency, and the betterment of India football,” the letter read.
AIFF’s response
AIFF responded to their appeal by inviting tenders for the broadcast of I-League matches in September. In a notice, AIFF asked appropriate vendors to submit bids for Live broadcast of I-League Football
Matches as per venue list on rental basis.

AIFF mentioned that the number of matches will be between 70 and 120. It also mentioned that the task would involve covering matches of 13 teams in 12 venues.
AIFF asked the vendors to place two separate bids for 4-camera-setup and 6-camera-setup.
The I-League clubs welcomed the tender notice of AIFF. Now with the cancellation of the notices, its is worth seeing if I-League clubs will revolt again against the step-motherly treatment meted out to by India’s football federation.
