AIFF AGM: At its annual general meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Indian football’s state associations recommended that the AIFF not impose restrictions and conditions on its Rs 24 lakh award. The All India Football Federation held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Bengaluru, under the leadership of President Mr. Kalyan Chaubey.
The current administration declared that the AIFF would offer a grant of Rs 24 lakh to each state unit. The grant was specifically designated for the development of women’s, men’s, and youth leagues, as well as for administrative purposes and infrastructure improvement, .

The state associations have requested the nomination of their candidates to AIFF’s various committees. They have also sought clarity regarding the funding for building a center of excellence in each association.
The AIFF is contemplating the introduction of VAR in the near future. They are looking for financially viable options to utilize the technology and improve the standard of supervision in domestic matches.
The AIFF has approved a significant budget increase for the year 2023-24. Raising it from Rs 77.27 crore to Rs 134.34 crore. The details of this budget were presented during the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
AIFF approves 5 teams in I-League, appoint Deputy General Secretary
The federation anticipates a rise of Rs 1.25 crore in sponsorship income. They expect FIFA grants to increase from Rs 7.30 crore to Rs 16.21 crore. Similarly, there is an expected increase in AFC grants from Rs 2.83 crore to Rs 9.10 crore. The increase in government funding for national teams from Rs 6.66 crore to Rs 24 crore.
The AIFF aims to gain an extra Rs 8 crore in government grants for football events. This includes Rs 3.5 crore for the SAFF Championship. Also Rs 1.50 crore each for junior men’s, junior women’s, and sub-junior women’s national championships.
With the inclusion of four corporate teams in the I-League, participation fee income is expected to increase to Rs 9.75 crore from Rs 64 lakh. Other funds will come from disciplinary sanctions, player registration fees, and coach education fees.
During the AGM, a former Indian footballer suggested prioritizing grassroots initiatives and youth programs instead of spending a significant portion on I-League matches.
