The Premier League is expected to declare that Nottingham Forest will lose four points for not adhering to financial regulations. Forest has been informed that they will be docked four points by the Premier League, after waiting for months to find out their fate.
The City Ground club is “likely to appeal” the results, which will be made public on Monday, according to the Guardian. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is now one point from safety as a result of the points deduction, dropping them below Luton Town and into the relegation zone.
After getting promoted back to the top division in May 2022, Forest made significant purchases. They spent almost £250 million on 42 players, which ultimately prevented them from being relegated under Steve Cooper.
In contrast, last summer was incredibly quiet, but they did experience a late surge in transfers when they sold Brennan Johnson to Tottenham for £47.5 million. They defended themselves against the Premier League by selling Johnson, even though this was rejected.

The report from The Guardian stated that, “Premier League clubs are allowed to lose £105m over a three-year period but Forest’s permitted losses were limited to £61m because they spent two years of that period in the Championship.”
Forest are likely to appeal against the punishment.
