The hosts, who carried even more pressure on their shoulders, had the best chance to take the lead during the opening 45 when Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui’s header hit the woodwork. But as the ball dropped into open space, it couldn’t be tapped home.

Coming out after the break Egypt were the ones to first step up their game. Salah, in particular, had a glorious chance to break the deadlock after he split defenders to be one-on-one with goalkeeper André Onana. The Ajax man, however, was quick to react as he came off his line to deny the captain.
Down at the other end, Cameroon also turned up the pressure with a header from Karl Toko Ekambi calling goalkeeper Gabaski into action and a thunder-strike from Samuel Gouet went inches wide. Neither side could find a breakthrough seeing the match head into extra-time.

But just before the whistle, Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz was sent to the stands adding more drama to the night. Few chances fell for either team throughout both havles of extra-time however Egypt had the best chance to take the lead after the ball flashed across the goal only for three players to miss getting a foot on it.
Eventually, the match went to penalties and Gabaski saved two alongside a Clinton N’Jie miss to see Egypt reach Sunday’s final where they will face Senegal.
