Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo is the biggest name in the world of sports and he ranks higher among the world’s top athletes who are active on social media. The Portugal international set a new milestone on social media. He hit the mark of 600 million mark on Instagram and also become the highest earner on this platform.
Last month, he was named the world’s highest-paid athlete by Forbes. He has become Instagram’s highest earner for the third consecutive year. Instagram scheduling tool Hopper HQ compiled a list and Ronaldo tops it. It is based on internal and publicly available data on how much every Instagram user charges for a post.

The 38-year-old earns $3.23 million per Instagram post. He beats his rival Lionel Messi who comes second on the list, earning $2.6 million for each post. These two are way ahead of the biggest stars like Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli takes third spot. Brazilian forward Neymar is also the other footballer on this elite list.
Co-founder of Hopper HQ, Mike Bandar was quoted as saying by Reuters, “It’s still shocking to me that the annual money made on the platform increases every year. Yet, what fascinates me more is the consistent players at the top. It’s apparent that the glitz and glamour of traditional celebrities still holds power over the new ‘influencer’ status.
He also adds, “Ronaldo and Messi not only dominate the pitch, but also the digital sphere as it’s clear they personify the power of personal branding and the influence it holds over us ‘ordinary’ people.”
