There have been a few others who have been shortlisted for the job. Dino Toppmoller, who was the assistant coach to the former Bayern Munich coach, Julian Nagelsmann is also in the running for the job. He was let go by Bayern Munich along with Nagelsmann near the end of March. Even though Solskjaer will be offered the job, it’s still unsure whether he will accept it or refuse it as he has done for the past 1.5 years.
Club Brugge are having the worst domestic season in the last 16 years as they have dropped down to the 5th position, out of the Champions League qualifying zone. In the Champions League, they went ahead of the group stage which was a first under their coach Carl Hoefkens. However, Hoefkens joined the club last July and by the arrival of the new year, he was sacked.
Club Brugge next appointed Scott Parker in Hoefkens’ place who has not been able to deliver. He had won only 2 matches out of the 12 that he managed. The team’s Champions League round of 16 matches also came under the guidance of Parker. They drew against Benfica and at the end of the two legs, were knocked out by them by an aggregate of 7-1 margin.
Parker was sacked in March by Club Brugge after around two months of his joining. Since then, the search for the right man for the job has been going on and now after around a month of Parker’s sacking, the news has come to light that Solskjaer could be offered the role. However, whether he takes it or not will be his decision.
